What follows contains a fair amount of knotty language, so we'd like to outline our key privacy commitments to you in plain English before we get into lawyer-speak. These are:
• When do we share your email address? Ideally never, but there are at least two unavoidable exceptions. We need to share it with some parties that provide services for us, such as the company that sends out our email alerts. We might also -- and this is unlikely -- need to share it for legal reasons.
• We work with some wonderful partners who are developing new publications and reading-related services. We might occasionaly email you to let you know about projects that our partners are working on. We will think hard before pressing send; we hate unecessary emails as much as you do.
• We don't store your credit card details. We leave that up to Stripe and Paypal, our payment processors.
• If you register as a user of the Cinesprit website, we store your password in an encrypted form.
OK, to the legalese…
Collection of Your Personal Information
Wordit may collect personally-identifying information from visitors to the Cinesprit website. The amount and type of information that we collect depends on the nature of the interaction. For example, we ask visitors who register on the Cinesprit website to provide at least a username and email address. Those who purchase any of our services are asked to provide additional information, including the necessary billing, credit card and other financial information. This personal and financial information is collected by our payment processor, Stripe.
Information about your computer hardware and software may be automatically collected by Wordit. This information can include non-personally-identifying information such as your browser type, domain names, access times and referring website addresses. It can also include potentially-personally-identifying information such as your IP address. This information is used for the operation of the Cinesprit website, to maintain quality of the services offered on the Cinesprit website, and to generate general statistics regarding use of the Cinesprit website.
Wordit encourages you to review the privacy statements of websites you choose to link to from Wordit so that you can understand how those websites collect, use and share your information. Wordit is not responsible for the privacy statements of those websites or their use of the information they collect.
Use of Your Personal Information
Wordit collects and uses your personal information to operate the Cinesprit website and deliver the services you have purchased or requested.
Wordit may also use your personally- identifiable information to inform you of other products or services available from Wordit and its affiliates. Wordit may also contact you via surveys to conduct research about your opinion of current services or of potential new services that may be offered.
Wordit does not sell, rent or lease its customer lists to third parties, or provide personally-identifiable information to any third parties, except in the limited circumstances described below.
Wordit may, from time to time, contact you on behalf of external business partners about a particular offering that may be of interest to you. In those cases, your unique personally-identifiable information (e-mail, name, address, telephone number) is not transferred to the third party. Wordit may also share data with trusted partners to help perform statistical analysis, send you email or postal mail, provide customer support, or arrange for deliveries. All such third parties are prohibited from using your personal information except to provide these services to Wordit, and they are required to maintain the confidentiality of your information.
Wordit may keep track of the websites and pages our users visit within the Cinesprit website, in order to determine what Wordit services are the most popular. This data is used to deliver customized content and advertising within the Cinesprit website to users whose behavior indicates that they are interested in a particular subject area.
Other than as described above, Wordit will disclose your personally-identifiable information only if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) comply with a subpoena, court order or other governmental request; or (b) protect and defend the rights or property of Wordit, of third parties or of the public at large.
The Cinesprit website may use "cookies" to help us identify and track visitors, their usage of the Cinesprit website, and their website access preferences, and to help us personalize the online experience of our visitors. A cookie is a text file that is placed on your hard disk by a web page server. Cookies cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer. Cookies are uniquely assigned to you, and can only be read by a web server in the domain that issued the cookie to you.
One of the primary purposes of cookies is to provide a convenience feature to save you time. The purpose of a cookie is to tell the web server that you have returned to a specific page. For example, if you personalize Wordit pages, or register with the Cinesprit website or request our services, a cookie helps Wordit to recall your specific information on subsequent visits. This simplifies the process of recording your personal information, such as billing addresses, shipping addresses, and so on. When you return to the same page on the Cinesprit website, the information you previously provided can be retrieved, so you can easily use the Wordit features that you customized.
You have the ability to accept or decline cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. If you choose to decline cookies, you may not be able to access certain features of the Cinesprit website.
Security of your Personal Information
Wordit secures your personal information from unauthorized access, use or disclosure. When personal information (such as a credit card number) is transmitted to other websites, it is protected through the use of encryption, such as the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol.
Children Under Thirteen
Wordit does not knowingly collect personally-identifiable information from children under the age of thirteen. If you are under the age of thirteen, you must ask your parent or guardian for permission to use the Cinesprit website.
Opt-Out & Unsubscribe
We respect your privacy and give you an opportunity to opt-out of receiving announcements of certain information. Users may opt-out of receiving any or all communications from Wordit by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org
